The inhabitants made their living by extracting and processing the vitrified clay stones found in the immediate vicinity.                                                                                                 Cattle and sheep were also raised. At its peak, it consisted of 18 houses, all built from Moli\u00e8re sandstone and local wood. This famous Moli\u00e8re stone was transported to Albi to form the porch of Saint C\u00e9cile Cathedral.
